Round 11 - 17th & 24th January 2015
McIntyre Cup v Woodend
Sunbury United v Woodend at Woodend we lost the toss and bowled. Started well having Woodend 3 for 18 then we let them get away to be all out 259 as their middle order hit us all over the park
Best of the bowling James Hughes 7 for 74
The next week we started like they did to 3 for 25 and all out 217 with some good efforts with the bat. The stand out was Ryan Billinghurst and Leif Skovdam putting on 122 which we hoped would get us home but we fell 42 runs short.
Best of the batting Ryan 64 Leif 58 Josh 31

B Grade v Ashfield
Ashfield won the toss and put us in, obviously they had been reading the papers. We started not to well. Zac was first out for 2, Ricky was in at 3 and out shortly after LBW. At this stage we were in a whole world of hurt and never really recovered. Aaron was the only batsman to offer resistance with Webbs, who came out of retirement for the game. Webbs was next to go and Arron was out for 23 shortly after. We ended up with 63, less than last week. Ashfield started slowly and Tyson got the first wicket. Drummy got another wicket and we were doing ok. Ashfield consolidated well and at stumps had just passed us at 2 for 65. I thought they had let us off the hook as far as getting an outright win. We returned the following Sat and Ashfield continued to bat. We grabbed another wicket and ashfield pulled the pin 53 runs in front after one of their batsman got their 50.
We opened up with Aaron and Zac and lost Aaron early. Rick Joined Zac and got us the 53 required to get us to equal with Ashfield. They continued to bat well together till tea. After tea Zac bought up his well made 100 and Ashfield decided that it was now beyond them to get us out and chase our total. Another loss but better batting in the second innings.

F Grade v Lancefield
F Grade hosted the top side Lancefield and in a first for the season we actually won the toss and after the shock of this we decided to bowl first. At one stage this didn’t look to be a great move as at tea they were 2/124 with heaps of overs to spare. In a left field move we changed keepers and Hoss came on to bowl and after 10 overs he had figures 5/41, the other wicket takers were Knottie 1/54 from 10, Jordan Tentonello 2/36 from 6 and Cobbie 2/32 from 9.5. At the end of the day we had bowled them out for 269 which considering the base they had to launch from could have been a lot worse.
On day 2 we were in trouble early being 5/48 before tea and it was left up to Cam Attard and James Lukey to try and bat for as long as possible to kill off any chance of a massive collapse. To both of their credit they did, with Cam making 12 and James 10 to join the only other players to make double figures (MW Richo 20 and MA Richo 11). We were bowled out for 77 and with just over an hour left we had another bat this time our top order did a lot better with MW Richo making 12 and Tremor (37 no) and Hoss (25 no) making sure that no further damage was done.
A disappointing result but at least we now know the bench mark we need to get to to be competitive this season.
