D Grade v Bacchus Marsh

We won the toss and decided to have a bowl.  All bowlers bowled well, Boyes 8 overs 0/7; Kyle Fisher 2/31 off 8 overs and Chris Linton 3/13 off 3 overs.  The ground fielding was excellent, probably saving about 30 runs in the end, as we bowlled Marsh out for 130 in the 38th over.  Catching needs to improve as we dropped another 4 catches 2 weeks in a row.

We came out to bat and got off to a bad start, losing wickets pretty regularly.  Noone in the top 6 got going as we slumped to 8/88 of 27 overs.  In came Tyson and Kyle, and they slowly started working the 1's and 2's but just stayed in.  It was great to see a pair hanging around, and it came down to the last over needing 20 to win.  Tyson went mental hitting 44622 off the first 5 balls of the over.  It came to the last ball needing 1 run to win.  Tyson hit the ball past the bowler for 4.  What an over, we ended up winning by 4 runs with Tyson 39no and Kyle 7no.  It was that partnership that won us the game.

Well done guys on a great win.

Man of the match: Tyson James

F Grade v Ashfield

F Grade had a rare away game out of Sunbury and played Ashfield at Diggers Rest. After losing the toss we were invited to bat first on a large, slow ground and opened up with the two Marks (Richo and Tremor).  Tremor was the 1st out with the score at 14. Trent Bellis joined Richo and they took the score to 44 with Richo out for 14. Our glorious leader then joined Trent and they combined to take us to 107 with Trent out for 55. Knottie Snr joined Hoss before Hoss (37)was out with the score at 142. Knottie followed shortly after trying to get the runs going in the last few overs for 18. This left Dig (2 no) and Knottie Jnr (0 no) to see us to the end of the innings being 5/147. Which based on  the condition of the ground wasn’t a bad score.

After tea we opened up with Knottie Snr (1/21 off 6) and Powelly (2/16 off 7) and wickets fell early for us with Ashfield being 3/22 at one stage. Ashfield’s main chance of chasing the score down was by having their skipper bat the innings out but fortunately for us Tremor took an amazing catch off Cobbie (2/14 off 7) to pretty much put the game in our hands. The Strut Attard was then used to remove their last big hitter to finish with 2/6 of 4 overs. James Lukey with Dig closed out the innings for us with James taking 2/0 and Dig unlucky 0/12 off 5. At the end of 35 overs we had Ashfield 9/88 giving us an excellent start to the season being 2 and 0 with a couple of key games coming up.

Man of the match: Trent Bellis

G Grade v Bacchus Marsh

Losing the toss we were sent in on a great day to bat. We set a formidable 242 in the 35 overs set up by Daniel Furnell who blasted a great 73 not out. He played shots to all parts of the ground but his cover driving was the stand out shot for the crowd that filtered in from the Bacchus Marsh area. He was assisted by Brad Wilson 30 and Ross Petersen who chipped in at the end with a hard hitting 32 not out (off 5 overs).

Although not troubled to a great degree our bowling was not at its best. Brad Wilson was able to stop the rot by picking up 3 wickets for 15 and we tidied up for a 70 run win.

Man of the match: Dan Furnell

Complete Health Care Award: Brad Wilson
